Description
Erik Messori has secured intimate visual access to the hermetic world of one of the most feared and celebrated movements in history: the IRA. Through rigorous black-and-white portraits and deserted urban landscapes, his lens maps a silent conflict where the past refuses to be archived, delivering the testimony of Europe’s longest-running war, handed down from generation to generation.
An exceptional photographic book in which the narrative is entrusted entirely to the subjects: memory is etched onto the skin through tattoos and painted across neighbourhood walls via Gaelic emblems, revolutionary icons, and memorials to the fallen. It is a raw, uncompromising encounter with a territory suspended between truce and irresolution, rendered through a powerful and unyielding visual gaze.
